MADISON, Wis. Feb 15, 2022:
Madison BCycle e-bikes return Tuesday, March 15! 2022 will be BCycle’s ’Biggest Year Ever’, with plans to add more stations and e-bikes than ever before.

After adding nine stations in 2021, the ‘Biggest Year Ever’ kicks off with eight new stations planned to be installed and available for the 2022 season launch.

General Manager, Helen Bradley says that the combined 17 new stations, which is the most ever for the bike share operator to install in a 12-month period, is a testament to the love riders have for bike share in Madison, and the incredible support from partners who help make the new stations a reality.

“Last year, we saw more trips and riders than ever before in Madison,” said Bradley. “Our goal this year and for the next few years to come, is to continue to meet people where they are and expand access to BCycle with new stations and more e-bikes, creating a more regional bike share program.”

“By creating a more wide-reaching bike share program, we can help generate a greater impact with farther reach as a viable public transportation option that people rely on each day,” added Bradley.

In addition to the first eight new stations this spring, Madison BCycle will also add 75 e-bikes to their fleet.

Along with the growth of their station and e-bike fleet, Madison BCycle is increasing the allotted ride time for Annual and Monthly memberships from 60 to 90 minutes per trip.

“We’ve heard our riders who say that after the launch of e-bikes, they want to enjoy riding for longer trips. There is so much to see in and around Madison, and our hope is that increasing trip times for the annual and monthly passes will give people more time to take it all in by e-bike.” said Bradley.

Annual Memberships will increase from $120 to $135 and Monthly Memberships will increase from $20 per month to $30 per month. Both changes take effect on March 15.

Annual Membership riders can renew their current Annual Membership, or sign up for a new membership, at the previous rate of $120 until March 15 with promo code BACKTOBCYCLE in the BCycle app or online.

*UW-Madison and Madison College students and faculty will retain the same price for their Annual Memberships with the same promo code and email address*

Madison BCycle will also look to bring more impact to the City of Madison and surrounding communities with their second running of the Art Bike Collection.

In 2021, the Art Bike Program brought together 13 local sponsors to help bring to life the art from 21 local artists to represent 18 not-for-profit cause on 28 e-bikes. Each Art Bike from 2021 helped raise thousands of dollars in donations to local causes and not-for-profits that were represented by the bikes.

Local businesses, artists, and not-for-profits can learn more about getting involved in the 2022 Collection here or can get in contact with the Madison BCycle Team here with any questions. With an increased number of e-bikes, the deadline to be considered for the collection is April 15, 2022.
