Madison BCycle's Art Bikes Have Hit the Road

by Andrea Behling | Jun 15, 2021

Madison’s latest public art project is mobile. Last week Madison BCycle unveiled 28 Art Bikes that have joined the electric-assist bike company’s fleet across town. Each bike features artwork that represents positive change in Dane County, from social justice to fighting food insecurity to protecting the environment.

Eighteen local nonprofits partnered with local artists, graphic designers and illustrators on the bike art, featured on the bikes’ baskets, frames and stems. The white e-bikes acted as a blank canvas for colorful designs. See photos here.

An unveiling event took place on June 10, in which Art Bikes were put on display at Garver Feed Mill. You can find the bikes around town at nearly 50 BCycle stations that house more than 300 electric-assisted bikes.

Take a look at all 18 designs and learn about the artists and the bikes’ messages here.
